AFTER

Once an emergency incident and any risks have been dealt with the recovery phase will begin:

  • follow the actions for consideration outlined in ‘After an Emergency’ of the Protecting You and Your Home section;
  • if you used your Community Emergency Plan remember to evaluate what happened.  Consider what went well / did not go well and what could be done differently in the future;
  • sometimes after a large-scale emergency there is a “multi-agency” debrief with all of the emergency responders involved.  Individual organisations frequently debrief their own staff and it may be useful to consider doing the same;
  • revisit your Community Emergency Plan and update it, as appropriate, taking into consideration the lessons learned from the emergency.
